Building a Proactive Pump Service Program
For the past two years, Fischer Process Industries has been providing the service and repair for a high demand tubular steel company in Northern Kentucky. We were hired to replace the unsatisfactory services of a different vendor. Their equipment was consistently breaking down and in need of repair, and it was our goal to institute a preventative proactive system to reduce down time. We instituted a pump service program, beginning with a complete audit of all on-site rotating equipment including pumps, mixers, and blowers. The critical needs were primarily determined and met with repairing and replacing necessary equipment. Supplied and repaired equipment include centrifugal pumps, vertical turbines, and horizontal split case machinery. A service and maintenance program was implemented featuring routine equipment inspections, thorough record keeping, and improvement activities such as operator training. Our implemented standardization program has resulted in improved equipment reliability, increased efficiency, cost reductions and seamless maintenance. We are currently working with the customer to review their processes, ensuring the optimal equipment is used for each application throughout their system.
